Prof Darrel Ince
Darrel Ince is Emeritus Professor of Computing at The Open University. He joined the Department of Computing at the Open University in 1979 as a Lecturer in Computer Science. While also lecturing at Oxford University, he ascended to Senior Lecturer in 1985, and served as Head of the Department for six years. In 1986 he was offered a chair as Professor of Computer Science.
Professor Ince is an accomplished author of more than 100 research papers and 18 books on software subjects, as well as a frequent contributor to numerous magazines and national newspapers. He is a very prolific writer, having a large number of editorials and around 160 articles in magazines and newspapers to his name, as well as several radio and television appearances. He has given nearly a hundred seminars at various establishments in academia and industry.
He has written numerous text and reference books for students including the very popular Oxford Dictionary of the Internet (also available in Hardback). His latest book book is The Computer: A Very Short Introduction.
