Open University course MT127 enables you to gain academic credit for selected qualifications from within Microsoft’s MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) programme. On this page, you will find information about which MCP qualifications can be used to gain credit for MT127 Accreditation of Certificated Practitioners I - and about which Open University academic courses must be completed before registering on MT127 (to see the equivalent details for the level 2 course, TM227, click <here>)
How do I know if I am in a position to register on MT127?
There are two things that you need to be sure that you have done in order to register on MT127 and so apply for credit. First, you must already have successfully completed any of the following Open University courses:
M150 Data, Computing and Information (30pts),
Or
T175 Networked Living: Exploring Information and Communication Technologies (30),
Or
T171 You, Your Computer and the Net (30)
Second, you must already have successfully completed any of the following combinations of MCP qualifications:
Therefore, if you have successfully completed one of the required OU courses AND one of the required combinations of MCP qualifications, you are in a position to register on MT127. Please note that it is not possible at present to accept any alternative combinations of MCP qualifications - or other types of qualification, such as ECDL. Please note also that if you use an MCP qualification to claim credit for MT127, you may not use the same qualification at a later date to obtain credit via TM227.
*It is guaranteed that MS70-270 will be accepted until at least May 2010 (10E presentation).
Is it possible to register on both MT127 and TM227 at the same time?
The same principle applies as per above - that is, if you have successfully completed the required OU courses AND the required MCP qualifications, you can register on MT127 and TM227 at the same time. The relevant OU courses for MT127 are, as indicated, M150 or T175 or T171; the relevant OU courses for TM227 are listed on the TM227 course website.
You are also required to have successfully completed any of following combinations of MCP qualifications:
Therefore, if you have successfully completed the required OU courses for MT127 and TM227 AND one of the required combinations of MCP qualifications, you are in a position to register on MT127 and TM227 at the same time.
