Research interests
  • Foundations of software architectures
    Together with
José Fiadeiro and Antónia Lopes, I'm interested in developing a formal framework that explains mechanisms to systematically construct complex systems independently of any concrete architecture description language.
  • Software system evolution
This theme follows my PhD work, the specification of dynamic reconfiguration of architectures, in which I used techniques based on rewriting, graphs, and category theory.
  • Coordination
The separation between computations and their coordination facilitates the construction (and evolution) of software systems. I am interested in researching which are the relevant coordination abstractions, how new interactions can be constructed from existing ones, and how to easily change the interactions between given components.
  • Program design languages
I am supervising the development of the
CommUnity Workbench, a development environment for a Unity-like parallel language.
