Human Computer Interaction researches into the design of interactive systems, products and services that support people in their everyday and working lives. Our research encompasses the development of theory, practice and technology.
The aims of our research programme in HCI are:
- To contribute to the knowledge and understanding of interactive systems and associated human behaviour.
- To contribute to the principled design, development and evaluation of interactive systems.
- To inform our contributions to knowledge with practical involvement, and vice versa.
- To use and develop appropriate theories methods, tool and perspectives.
- To contribute to the creation and improvement of technologies that augment human abilities, improve human experience, enrich human communication, and enhance peoples' quality of life.
- To study and develop systems to support user diversity of all kinds, including differences in language and cultural convention.
Relevant perspectives that we use include technological, psychological, physiological, ethnographic, social, cultural and organizational.
